Meta Expands Its Personal AI Assistant With Muse Spark

Meta is expanding its personal AI assistant across its products, powered by Muse Spark models that support multimodal reasoning, tool use and longer-horizon tasks.

Meta is expanding its personal AI assistant across its consumer products, with Muse Spark models providing the underlying multimodal reasoning and agentic capabilities.

From answers to actions

Meta describes its assistant as able to help with research, organisation, shopping and other tasks. The company is adding capabilities such as scheduled tasks, daily briefings and file and image analysis, while positioning the assistant as something that can help users complete work rather than only answer questions.

Meta’s developer platform lists Muse Spark 1.3 as a model for long-horizon agentic workflows. Meta says it can track context and prior results, handle messy or conflicting inputs, ask for input when needed, and process images, video and documents. The model is also available through Meta’s developer services, including coding-oriented integrations.

Distribution is the strategy

Meta AI is available through meta.ai, the Meta AI app, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Messenger, with access also extending to web, desktop and AI glasses. That distribution gives Meta a route into everyday behaviour if users accept the permissions and interruptions required for more capable assistance.

Meta says messages are processed in a secure environment that no one, including Meta, can access. A personal assistant still raises difficult questions about data boundaries, mistaken actions and user consent. The more useful the assistant becomes, the more context it may need; the more context it receives, the more consequential a wrong inference becomes.

Why it matters

Meta’s strategic advantage is the combination of an existing global distribution network and a rapidly expanding model family. If the company can make permissioned, preference-aware assistance feel natural inside products people already use, it could accelerate consumer adoption of AI agents. The current releases show expanding capabilities, but do not yet prove that users will trust Meta with durable personal context, which remains the central barrier.
