Anthropic makes Claude Docs, Slides and Design free

Anthropic has moved Claude’s collaborative document, presentation and design tools out of beta, opening the same workspace to free users.

Anthropic has taken Claude Docs, Slides and Design out of beta and made them available on every plan, including Free. The company says users and Claude can edit the same document, presentation or design in a shared workspace rather than passing files back and forth through separate prompts.

A broader work surface

The release expands Claude beyond a chat interface. Docs is aimed at collaborative writing and editing, Slides at presentation creation, and Design at visual work. Anthropic is also adding Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion in beta. Dashboards can connect to a data platform or CRM, translate a natural-language question into a query and build a dashboard that updates as the underlying data changes. Motion turns reports, charts or product walkthroughs into short animations by writing code rather than invoking a dedicated video-generation model.

The surrounding integrations show the intended workflow. Claude can pass a dashboard to an analytics tool for deeper analysis, or send an animation to a video editor for finishing work. Runway and Luma have separately publicized workflows that continue Claude Motion outputs inside their products.

This is a product-surface expansion rather than a frontier-model announcement. Its significance comes from where Anthropic is placing the model: inside the artifact being created, with editing and handoff treated as part of the same task. Making the core tools available to free users also gives the company a larger funnel for testing how people use AI-generated work products.

Why it matters

The move increases pressure on productivity platforms that still treat AI as a side panel. A shared document or live dashboard gives the model persistent context and a visible object to modify, which is closer to ordinary work than a sequence of isolated answers.

The open question is governance. A dashboard that can query business systems or a design that becomes production media needs permissions, version history and clear ownership. Free access may accelerate adoption, but it also makes those controls important far beyond enterprise buyers.
