Anthropic Reportedly Picks Nasdaq for Potential IPO

Anthropic has reportedly selected Nasdaq for a potential listing that could value the AI company near $2 trillion, though key terms remain unconfirmed.

Anthropic has reportedly selected Nasdaq as the venue for a potential initial public offering, according to a report circulated on September 13. The plan could put the Claude developer on track for one of the largest technology listings ever, with people familiar with the discussions describing a possible valuation of roughly $2 trillion.

A market test for frontier AI

The reported choice follows weeks of speculation about Anthropic’s public-market ambitions. Earlier reporting said the company could seek to raise as much as $100 billion, while Nvidia has been reported to be considering an investment of up to $10 billion as an anchor backer. Those discussions remain private and could change before any filing or pricing decision.

Anthropic’s most recent reported financing valued the company at $965 billion. A listing near $2 trillion would therefore require investors to accept a valuation more than twice as high in a relatively short period. The company’s case rests on rapid adoption of Claude and Claude Code, strong enterprise demand, and expectations that frontier models will become a major layer of business software and automation.

What is still unproven

The Nasdaq selection is not the same as a completed IPO commitment. Anthropic has not publicly confirmed the exchange, offering size, valuation target, or timetable in the sources reviewed for this edition. The reported figures are plans under discussion, not disclosed financial results.

The significance is broader than Anthropic’s capital structure. A listing at this scale would test whether public investors are willing to finance the enormous compute, talent, and infrastructure costs of frontier AI companies at private-market valuations. It would also give the market a clearer benchmark for comparing Anthropic with OpenAI, xAI, and other model developers.

Uncle Cat take

A Nasdaq choice is meaningful only if Anthropic can turn Claude’s enterprise momentum into audited growth that justifies a valuation doubling from $965 billion.
